15 sports organizations and public institutions such as schools participated in this project. They embraced the P-Spot concept of Parking Day for Fitness and created activities in spaces intended for car parking in their cities.

Because we worked with public institutions that undertook the organization of P-Spot activities in public spaces, we signed a collaboration partnership in which we stipulated the rights and obligations of each local project partner.

Having so many places to organize, we decided that the activities should take place in other geographical areas of Romania. In addition to the north, where our organization is located, we also carried out activities in the east and south. The locations where the P-Spot took place were:

  • Suceava Region:

Suceava City: Sports High School, Economical College, Petru Musat Technical College, Alexandru Ioan Cuza Technical College, Gimnasium School no. 9, Municipal Sports Club

  • Gura Humorului Town: Green Market Square, the Orthodox Cathedral and the city center.
  • Radauti city: Hurmuzachi National College
  • Communes: Ilisesti- The parking lot of a recycling company and Dumbraveni - The parking lot of a Pentecostal church
  • Iași region: Iași City
  • Calarasi Region: Oltenita City: Nicolae Balcescu Technological High School and the Children's Club.

Through their activities, the participating students and children together with the teachers wanted to draw the attention of the local authorities that cars have invaded public spaces and that they can no longer enjoy some green areas that have now been turned into parking spaces, sometimes abusively. At some schools, the students have told their management that the spaces they used to benefit from in the past as an area for students to relax and socialize during breaks or after classes have become forced parking spaces due to the increase in the number of teachers' cars. Another phenomenon of young people in their final years of high school who are already 18 years old and due to their good financial condition benefit from the cars they use to come to school occupying and congesting public spaces was debated.

Park(ing) Day for Fitness builds on the existing practices and guidelines provided by Rebar, where BG Be Active and the project consortium are adding an element of a multi-sport day event to offer activities that promote active lifestyles and engage the public.
