What is a Park(ing) Day for Fitness event?
Park(ing) Day for Fitness is an event happening at a parking space. Park(ing) Day for Fitness builds on the original Park(ing) Day concept - taking over a parking spot for your own human-scale and community use - now with physical activity, movement, or fitness in mind.
Why do we do it?
Our main aim is to increase the awareness of citizens of alternative and inclusive possibilities to be active in their cities and provide creative opportunities for grassroots and sport operators to promote and deliver active leisure opportunities.
When does it take place?
The events are planned to happen between 16 and 22 September 2022. Flagship events as large-scale interventions will occur on 16-17 September 2022.

What kind of activities can I organise?
We invite you to think about a P-spot event. P-spot is a single Park(ing) Day for Fitness intervention at one parking space with a specific activity program.
There are several types of P-spot interventions:
- ‘Make a start’ for light interventions with minimal planning and preparation time (around 1 week)
- ‘Level Up’ for moderate low-cost interventions requiring a strong idea and medium time for preparation (up to 3 weeks)
- ‘Push it to the max!’ for intense interventions requiring higher costs, some practical skills and a strong idea

How do I organise a safe Park(ing) Day for Fitness event?
Park(ing) Day for Fitness organisers must ensure that local restrictions are followed and that necessary safety measures are in place.
Choose your parking spot wisely, avoid loading or no-stopping zones and opt for a metered parking spot.
Make it safe - use the cones, signs, or border fencing to clearly demarcate the intervention within the parking spot.
Make sure to check the weather conditions for your event to happen in optimal conditions (sun, shade, wind, weather, traffic, construction).
Promote the event as sustainable in order to attract people to participate. You will be mostly using second-hand sports equipment.
How do I promote my event?
You can find our promotional resources here: Parking Day for Fitness (bgbeactive.org)
Reach out on time to make sure your event is successful! This can be done by creating invites on social media, by sending out flyers in the neighbourhood, by telling your friends and spreading the word across well known spots in your city (local library, cafés);
