Park(ing) Day for Fitness P-spots events across Bulgaria!
BG Be Active decided to make the concept accessible for every organisation interested in the event and launched an open call for organisers across Bulgaria.
The events unfolded in Tutrakan, Varna, Plovdiv, Sofia, Smolyan, Troyan, Ruse between 16-22 September, and they varied in the types of activities and participation.
On 19.09.2022, in Tutrakan children from the municipality's kindergartens participated in a sports-educational campaign aimed at protecting them from traffic accidents. The initiative was organized with the participation of the Municipality of Teteven and the support of the BG Be Active Association. Children had the opportunity to play sports and have fun in the form of educational games with the actors of the Pan Theater, to learn about the basic road safety rules that are important to follow in their daily lives. At the end of the event, traffic safety booklets were distributed to all children, kindergarten participation certificates, as well as educational kits with information on road traffic. The event was attended by the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Teteven, ch. "Education" expert, kindergarten directors, volunteers and municipal administration employees.
In Troyan the local partner from the school organised activities for slackline balancing, coordination games, demonstration of knot types, conditioning exercises, as well as kangoo jumps. Dozens of enthusiasts took part in the challenge of riding a bicycle to charge their phones and keep the lights on in Ruse.
The partners in Smolyan organised a game parking space for pétanque, while in Sofia during the sports activities held in the parking lot of the Maxi complex, the partners prepared the ground for the different games - checkers, tug of war, hide and seek, jump rope and federball. Power Jump from Varna organised the City Quest with different physical activity exercises on the parking spaces.
Park(ing) Day for Fitness builds on the existing practices and guidelines provided by Rebar, where BG Be Active and the project consortium are adding an element of a multi-sport day event to offer activities that promote active lifestyles and engage the public.
